Mesh Quickly for Your Mesh Tickets

How many variations of the word mesh can I use between now and when Mesh begins on May 30th? As many times as I like, baby!

By way of Mathew, registration for Mesh is now open. The event sold out last year and it was wicked mint (thanks for the phrase Chris), so don’t miss your opportunity to attend one of the hypest (did I just use that word?), coolest (I’m stuck in the 80s), and most synergistic event to hit Toronto.

Here’s a quick line-up of the keynotes:

Michael Arrington, founder/editor of TechCrunch.com, Jim Buckmaster, CEO of Craigslist.org, Richard Edelman, CEO of Edelman Co., Tom Williams, founder of GiveMeaning.com, and Austin Hill, founder of Gifter.org.

Episode 008 - Podcamp Toronto Recap

Podonomics explores business podcasting tactics. In Episode 008, Leesa Barnes - in a very groggy voice - talks about Podcamp Toronto and why organizing an unconference is important to building a community. This recording is unedited, unabridged and uncensored. Enjoy at your own risk.

Orange Feed Buttons Are So Out

By way of Jason Van Orden’s podcast, I was reminded about the different coloured feed buttons that are now available.

Most of us are familiar with the orange feed button as you see to the left. And some of us will tell others to look for that button if they want to subscribe to a feed.

Well, I have to burst your bubble as the feed button is now available in several select colours. I saw a blue one on this site. You can grab the entire package of lollipop colours from this site.

So, if you’re telling your client, colleague or friend to look for the orange button, you’ll have to change your tune. It can now be pink, blue or green.

Live Streaming from Podcamp Toronto

Thanks to the wonderful team at Ryerson University, we’re going to be streaming every session from Podcamp Toronto live over the Internet. So, if you couldn’t make it out to Toronto, now you can watch from the comforts of home.

As Jay Moonah put it, we can’t guarantee that it will be up all the time. There’s really no one on standby to take care of any technical support issues. Despite this, you’ll still be able to participate virtually in the various sessions that are taking place.

To access the live streaming, visit the Podcamp Toronto Schedule.

My Former Boss Is Podcasting

Just read that Scott McNealy totally skipped over the blogging thing and launched a podcast instead.

I’m not surprised. I don’t think his strength is in writing. In the 5-years I worked at Sun Microsystems, I sent 2 emails to Scott. He always replied, usually the same day, however, I can count on my 2 hands the number of words he typed up in his email responses to me.

Podcamp Toronto Starts This Weekend

Just wrapping up a few loose ends for Podcamp Toronto, a meetup happening this weekend at Ryerson University that will connect newbies and experienced podcasters.

I organized this event along with Jay Moonah, Mitch Joel, Brent Morris and Julien Smith. I’m anxious to see the fruits of our labour. There are so many people who are coming out and to name whom I want to meet will turn this post into a mini-novel.

Why the Old Way Can’t Be Forgotten (In Other Words, Print Everything)

I have been without Internet access since very early Tuesday morning. Turns out that they need to visit my premises and the earliest they can arrive is Thursday afternoon. At this rate, I have no idea when I’ll be back up and running in my home office, so if you need me, you’ll have to call or just wait until I can respond to your email.

The company that provides my Internet access is not important as I’ve been a happy customer of theirs since 1999. I’ve had problems with them only twice. Once about 5-years ago when the Internet went down for days (culprit - outdated modem) and now.

I didn’t realize how dependent I am on the Internet. Everything I do is online. My contact lists are online. My calendar is online. My friends are online. My community is online. I get my news online. I do my banking online. In fact, my entire life is online.

Will the Real Leesa Please Stand Up?

Quick question as I take a break from writing about podcasting just for a moment. When you see this avatar, do you think Leesa Barnes?
