Live Streaming from Podcamp Toronto

Thanks to the wonderful team at Ryerson University, we’re going to be streaming every session from Podcamp Toronto live over the Internet. So, if you couldn’t make it out to Toronto, now you can watch from the comforts of home.

As Jay Moonah put it, we can’t guarantee that it will be up all the time. There’s really no one on standby to take care of any technical support issues. Despite this, you’ll still be able to participate virtually in the various sessions that are taking place.

To access the live streaming, visit the Podcamp Toronto Schedule.

Podcamp Toronto Starts This Weekend

Just wrapping up a few loose ends for Podcamp Toronto, a meetup happening this weekend at Ryerson University that will connect newbies and experienced podcasters.

I organized this event along with Jay Moonah, Mitch Joel, Brent Morris and Julien Smith. I’m anxious to see the fruits of our labour. There are so many people who are coming out and to name whom I want to meet will turn this post into a mini-novel.

Learn New Technology (Like Podcasting)

After listening to 680News this afternoon, I discovered Career Path’s Top 10 Career Resolutions. You can read the entire list here, but I especially liked this one:

Learn more about new technology: Technology is here to stay. If you’re a novice, shame on you. Communication is essential for business success. Take stock of where you’re the weakest and change that.

I highly recommend that you learn everything you can about podcasting. At least learn the basics because you can easily hire someone out to do all the techie stuff.

There are many ways to learn about podcasting and there’s no better way then attending an event. Check out the Podcamp wiki to find out if there’s a Podcamp happening in your city.

  • If there is, put your name on the registration list and attend for free.
  • If there isn’t, organize one.

Podcamp Toronto at Ryerson University, Feb 24 & 25

Thanks to Jay Moonah, one of the organizers for Podcamp Toronto, we have secured a location. The School of Radio & Television Arts and the Rogers Communications Centre at Ryerson University have graciously donated some space at their facilities for Podcamp Toronto, taking place on February 24th & 25th, 2007.

So, start booking your flights. Now that we have a location, we’re going to start looking at getting hotel discounts and finalizing some other logistics for those of you coming from outside Toronto.

Podcamp Toronto Registrant List Growing

Without announcing the venue or the exact date of this unconference, the list of registrants keeps growing. We’re at 14 and although since we’re still 4-months away, I fully expect this list to grow.

Some developments:

We’re looking at a downtown location for the last weekend in February, so head over to the Podcamp Toronto wiki page and add your name to the registrants page. Then, add a session to the session page.

A word about the sessions - No matter what you’re an expert in, just tag on the word podcasting and you’ve got one you can contribute to Podcamp Toronto. At Podcamp Boston, Suzanne Falter-Barns presented on a topic called How to Attract Media to Your Blog or Podcast. It was one of the more popular sessions at the event.

So, all are welcomed. Just head over to the wiki and start adding your name.

Podcamp Toronto, it’s coming

Remember a few weeks ago I said I may be planning a Web 2.0 related event here in Toronto?
Well, after my experience at Podcamp, I put out a call to a few people on the GTA Podcasters mailing and 3 people bit the bullet. Jay, Dave & Brent are the first people to join me in bringing Podcamp to Toronto.

If you’re a podcasting consultant, enthusiast, hobbyist, or just pod-curious, head over to the wiki and add your name to the list. We need a venue, a few sponsors, panelists, presenters, attendees, etc. etc.

We’re looking at having this event towards the end of February, sometime after Dave’s corporate podcasting event. Maybe February should become podcasting awareness month in Toronto?

Update: My favourite Montreal podcaster, Julien, has joined as an organizer.
